Itia Mamá Minga

A heart-warming project in honor of a mother’s dream

Itia was a dream of Mamá Carmelina Ushigua. Today, her children are reviving her dream and beginning to build and plant a center for healing.

Itia's dream is to continue preserving everything learned from Carmelina’s vision of planting natural medicines, among other plants.

Preserving the Sápara Culture.

Being of the Amazon and of the Sápara offspring, Carmelina’s children feel a great responsibility to resume the great dream of their mother and to save that which is most valuable and essential of the Sápara culture: rescuing medicinal plants and preserving and developing their knowledge and use so the wisdom will be passed down to future generations and shared with the world.

Listening to the needs of the Jungle.

Medicinal plants form the main axis of our worldview, and Carmelina’s family believe that with the rescue of medicinal plants, it would strengthen their culture that is in danger of extinction.
